Our client is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious law firms with a strong and established presence in Asia Pacific. Due to expansion of their business, they are now seeking a highly analytical and meticulous Credit Control Executive to join and support their Finance team. You will be responsible for monitoring debtor ledgers for Greater China clients and working with internal and external clients to actively control and reduce debtor days. There is a possibility of contract extension for the right individual.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility of debtor list for Greater China clients and actively monitor and control debtor status and reduce debtor lock-up
- Communicate regularly with clients and third parties by letter, telephone and/or email to ensure prompt payment of bills in accordance with payment terms
- Chase over-due debts in accordance with set credit control/firm policy
- Support clients to resolve payment issues or delays including China tax clearance on cross border remittance
- Liaison with partners and fee earners as necessary for debt status updates
- Anticipate bad debt provisions at month end
- Prepare debt write off requests and seek authorisation in compliance with debt write off policies and procedures
- Maintain records of all debtor provisions and write off for analysis and tax reporting
- Provide collection forecasting and other reports and statistics, as well as assisting with the credit review processes where necessary
- Prepare and maintain a list of clients with bad payment history and regularly alert fee earners and management
- Manage ad hoc report requests, including meeting deadlines
- Support any global and regional projects to improve and standardise credit control procedures to focus efforts on value added activities
- Provide other support, as required, to the line manager or Financial Controller
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 - 2 years’ work experience in a similar role; legal or professional services experience would be preferable
- Degree qualified in Accountancy, Finance, or related fields
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; English and Native or near Native Mandarin are a prerequisite
- Good knowledge of China VAT rules and China cross-border tax clearance processes
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Organized and methodical with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage conflicting demands whilst maintaining a strong commitment to quality
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively – comfortable in a multicultural team environment
- Proactive with strong commercial awareness
